Grade 2 Musicians
Week 2- April 14th -April 19thGood Morning Grade 2's!
I hope you had a fantastic and restful long weekend with your families! Welcome to a new week in music. This week we will practice training our ears with some listening activities. Follow this link to play the music game "Same or Different". You will listen to two pitches played one after the other and determine if they played the same notes or two different ones. When you are finished that game, you can watch this solfege ear training video. We have done this in class before on the piano many times when we were learning our different scales. Listen to the entire scale, then they will play one pitch from the scale. You will try to guess what pitch they are playing. Don't cheat! :) Keep track of how many answers you get right the first time, then try again another day to see if you've improved. The question of the day today is: If you could have a giant version of anything you own, what would it be? My answer is: I would have giant piano so we could all play together at the same time! :) Take care, Talk soon Ms Onyido |
Week 1 April 5th -April 12th
Hello Grade 2's To start out the week, we'll play some games to remember some instrument sounds and also practice our singing warm ups. Follow this link to practice your singing. Complete exercises 1 and 2 for the "SO -MI" echo sing activity. Practice singing the different pitch patterns played. When you are done, you can play the sesame street monster music game. Try out all the instruments! My challenge for you, is to choose the xylophone with Elmo and see if you can remember and play some of the songs we learned in class! The question of the day today is: Describe what would be your perfect day! What are you doing that makes it so special? Take care, Talk Thursday :) Ms Onyido |

Good Morning Grade 2's!
Happy Tuesday! I hope all is well with you and your families as we all keep hanging in there and online learning together.
This week, please click the picture to play the game " Which Way" . This game is similar to the one we played last week, however you are being asked to tell if the two notes played are going higher to lower, or lower to higher.

Next, Click on this picture to play the Poison Melody game. This game is the same as the Forbidden Phrase game that we have played in class many times before. They will sing you the poising melody at the start and once the game continues, you will need to make sure you remember that melody and not sing it when it asks. Do exercises 1-3 and see how you do.
This weeks question of the day is: If you could change on thing about the world, what would it be?
Have a fabulous week Musicians!

Goodbye Grade 2's
Week 4 April 27th May 3rd
Happy Monday grade 2's!
It is with great sadness that I must announce today is my last day as your music teacher. Fortunately Ms Thompson will be coming back and take over your music for the remainder of the year. She will be reaching out to you some time this week or next with a different medium of communication. I just wanted to say that it was an absolute blast getting to know you all throughout the almost 2 years I have bin at Sam Steele. It was very rewarding getting to see you progress from grade 1's to grade 2's and all of the creative, interesting work you've done along the way. I will miss each and everyone of you and I hope I can come back soon and visit. You are all such amazing students and a pleasure to teach. For my last music work for you all, please watch this quick video on rhythm. It will give you a refresh of what we've already learned in class. Next, click here to log onto music play and practice your rhythms. Please do exercises 1 &2 BUT make sure to click on the second tab above. It is the second tab from the left and it has a quarter note, eighth note, and a quarter rest on it. Wishing you all the best :) Ms Onyido |
